The multi-use network of trails known as The Alpha Loop is no longer a vision: it’s becoming a reality. The Alpha Loop consists of two loops– a three-mile inner circle and a five-mile larger circle forming a perimeter. It will link some of the city’s most popular areas including downtown Alpharetta, the Big Creek Greenway, Avalon, the Northwinds area and a planned food hall inspired by markets around the Atlanta Beltline. Trails will have a natural feel and include bicycle service areas, pocket parks for seating and lots of greenspace. The idea was to connect people and places and create a destination for recreation as well as an easy way to get around by foot or bike.

The big question of course is, “When’s this going to happen?” Plans were approved in February and EA Homes and the developers along Thompson Street are collaborating and have already begun construction on the sections of the network that connect Avalon with downtown Alpharetta. This Thompson Street section may be completed as early as spring 2018.
