The kitchen is a common gathering space always bustling with activity. It’s where you quickly pack your children’s lunches before school, peacefully sip your morning coffee, and fix your family’s favorite snacks when settling down for a movie together. For a room that is so integral in your daily life, it’s important that your kitchen’s design style fits into your family’s lifestyle.
HGTV.com recently wrote an article capturing the 2014 season’s most desired kitchen trends for the modern buyer. As you click through their slideshow, here are a few of our personal favorites:
- Cottage – Painted cabinets, which continue to be popular among homebuyers, along with playful polka dots and bold stripes create the feel for a cottage-style kitchen. Use salvaged hardwood flooring and antiques to establish an elegantly vintage-inspired theme that’s fit for a modern family.
- Tuscan – Let the sunshine in with a Tuscan-style kitchen. Full of orange and red hues and true to pure Italian fashion, this kitchen is distinguished by its handmade tiles and subtly distressed stone. Easily transform this conventional kitchen for an elegant dinner party or simple spaghetti night with the family.
- Craftsman – Rustic hardware and open shelving make the craftsman kitchen a winner for a “shabby chic” home. Colors of burgundy and gray create a warm atmosphere for a cozy dinner with the family. Satin nickel, chrome and oil rubbed bronze remain favorite finishes for hardware and lighting fixtures, while bronze is also making a comeback.
